Rev. Fr. Nathan Thompson, Pastor of Ss. Peter & Paul, eff. August 1, 2015

Reverend Father Nathan Thompson was born in Baltimore, Maryland in 1973. His family moved back to the Midwest and he grew up in Iowa City, Iowa; St Louis, Missouri and Indianapolis, Indiana. After receiving a B.A. in Literature at Wheaton College outside of Chicago, he attended Fuller Theological Seminary, where he met his wife, Khouria Mandy and received a M.A. in Theology.
After a short time in Protestant college ministry, he became a Paramedic Firefighter for almost a decade. During this time, he and Kh. Mandy were chrismated by Father Jon Braun at St Anthony’s Orthodox Church in San Diego and they had Chloe and Rebecca.
After suffering a career-ending back injury while in training with the San Diego Fire Department, the family, with the blessing of his spiritual father and His Emminence Metropolitan JOSEPH, made the decision for him to attend an Orthodox Seminary. Father Nathan attended St Tikhon’s Orthodox Seminary in Northeast Pennsylvania. While there, Micah was born and Father Nathan received his Masters of Divinity.
Father Nathan was assigned to Holy Cross Antiochian Orthodox Church in Palmdale on July 5th 2009, where he served as the pastor for 6 years. During that time, he also worked as a phlebotomist in a lab. He was then transferred to Ss. Peter and Paul in Ben Lomond on August 1st, 2015.
Kh. Mandy was born in San Diego and grew up there and in Orange County. She received a B.S. in Psychology from Sacramento State and then an M.S. from the School of Psychology at Fuller Seminary. She is now putting that degree to work keeping Fr. Nathan in line and raising Chloe, Rebecca and Micah.
The three kids are all excellent students and complete goofballs (in a good way.) All three love reading inventing games to play, swimming and playing with our beloved dog, Ginger. Chloe especially loves writing stories and drawing as well. Chloe and Rebecca also enjoy making elaborate stories up for fun. Micah also plays baseball.

St. Timothy the Apostle (January 22)

Since thou hadst been instructed in uprightness thoroughly and wast vigilant in all things, thou wast clothed with a good conscience as befitteth one holy. Thou didst draw from the Chosen Vessel ineffable mysteries; and having kept the Faith, thou didst finish the course, O Hieromartyr and Apostle Timothy. Intercede with Christ God that our souls may be saved. (Apolytikion in Tone 4)

Wisdom

"If you see your neighbor sinning, take care not to dwell exclusively on his faults. Try to think of the many good things he has done and continues to do. Many times when we do this, we come to the conclusion that our neighbor is a far better person than we are." -- St. Basil the Great
